Research out of Harvard Business School found that the #1 cause of business failure is bad strategy. A study of 154 companies by Harris Interactive showed that only 30 percent of managers are strong at strategic thinking. When these two pieces of data are combined, it demonstrates the critical nature of a leader’s strategic fitness. Strategic Fitness is defined as the capability of the mind to generate insights and set direction that leads to advantage.

The Strategic Fitness Program provides managers at all levels and in all functional areas with a comprehensive approach to enhancing their strategic capabilities. Developed by Rich Horwath of the Strategic Thinking Institute, the Strategic Fitness Program gives managers the concepts and tools to build the essential strategy capability skill sets. The Strategic Fitness Program is built on a core curriculum of strategic thinking disciplines designed to enhance one’s strategic approach to the business on a daily basis.

Individuals looking to become certified as Strategic Fitness Trainers are required to complete the certification process, which includes a knowledge assessment, quizzes and practical application exercises.
